Picture this: 375 new homes spreading across 160 acres just north of Hastings High School.
That's what Tradition Homes just proposed to the City of Hastings. We're talking about land between 140th Street and County Road 42, near Featherstone Road. Single-family homes and townhomes.
Here's the thing - this isn't just new construction. It's an annexation, which means the City of Hastings would be bringing in land that's currently outside city limits. The city would literally expand.
Not much, honestly. This came up during a Planning Commission meeting on January 26th.
Here's what they shared:
Think about that number for a second. 375 homes. For a city the size of Hastings, that's significant growth in one project.
This is early. Like, really early.
Tradition Homes still needs to submit formal applications, go through the full Planning Commission review, present to residents, and get City Council approval. We've seen this process play out across Dakota County - it takes months, sometimes over a year.
There's basically nothing publicly available yet. No site plans, no architectural drawings, no timeline. Just the concept and the numbers.
As soon as something changes - formal application submitted, public hearing scheduled, actual drawings released - we'll break it down in the newsletter.
