If you live anywhere between Hastings and Shakopee and want to know what's happening right in your backyard, you're in the right place.

I'm Brady Greenbush, and I'm excited to introduce the South Metro Scoop podcast—a new way to stay connected with everything happening in Dakota and Scott Counties.

What is the South Metro Scoop?

The South Metro Scoop started as a local email newsletter focused on Lakeville, with a separate one for Hastings. After seeing the growth in both communities, it made sense to merge them into one comprehensive source covering the entire south metro area.

Now we cover communities from Hastings in the east all the way to Shakopee in the west, including Lakeville, Burnsville, Apple Valley, Eagan, Farmington, Prior Lake, Rosemount, and Savage.

Our mission is simple: be your calendar for the cool stuff happening here in the south metro—without having to rely on what's going on in Minneapolis and St. Paul. We're bringing the cooler stuff closer to you.

What We Cover

The newsletter and podcast focus on two main areas:

Community Events: Local happenings, festivals, and activities that bring our communities together

Community News: Notable developments like new businesses, announcements from city council meetings, and anything else that impacts our neighborhoods

Why I Started This

I grew up bouncing between Lakeville and Rosemount and currently live in Hastings, so I've got roots all over the South Metro. I always found it hard to find events happening here locally rather than just what's going on in the Twin Cities core.

I figured there had to be other people having trouble finding everything happening in the south metro without being part of a million Facebook groups. So I wanted to bridge that gap.

By day, I work in digital marketing at a Lakeville-based firm serving businesses across the South Metro and beyond. My background in Google ads, Facebook ads, and website copywriting helps me understand what information people are actually looking for and how to deliver it in a way that's useful.

What to Expect from the Podcast

This podcast is designed to be conversational—no stuffiness here. Each episode will showcase:

  • A look ahead at what's happening next week
  • Notable community news recaps
  • Interviews with local business owners
  • Story ideas you send in (email me. brady@southmetroscoop.com)

You can catch new episodes on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Coming Up Next

The next few episodes feature interviews with local business owners, giving you an inside look at the people behind the businesses you see every day.

If you're not already subscribed to the email newsletter, make sure to sign up—it's the best way to stay in the loop about everything happening in the south metro.

Thanks for being here, and let's make the south metro a little more connected, one episode at a time.
